Despite of the bad news that happened in Turkey, where a 7.2 magnitude earthquake shocked the country especially the city of Ercis which was most devastated, we could still praise and give thanks to God for the survivors who were rescued. Indeed it was a joyful and tearful moment for the family of a 2-week old baby girl who survived the tragic quake! I myself was amazed and praising the Lord after I read about this good news! God spared the lives of the baby together with her mother and grandmother who all have been trapped for three days in tons of concrete all piled up. The baby girl's name is Azra which means "purity" or "untouched" in Arabic. It was such a touching moment for rescuers and onlookers as they rescued the baby girl together with her mom and grandmother under the pouring rain. It was a miracle for everybody! And even for me! God is indeed at work! =)

Meanwhile, at least 366 people were recorded to have died and still many more are expected as rescuers are retrieving the bodies of those buried under massive collapsed buildings. Though three days has passed already, many are still striving to rescue the people buried alive. One survivor even used his cellphone to be located by rescuers.
Government's Responsibility
As time is of the essence between life or death, people in Ecris are bringing their complains on the government for not responding quickly. Many people who are left without homes brought in their concerns to the government to provide them their necessity. Most specifically would be shelter. According to officials, 12,000 tents will be sent to Van, another city closed to the Iranian border, for shelter to the homeless.
Grace in the Midst of Suffering
The situations of the people in Turkey are very hard. Survival is crucial. People even said that the place was like hell. But even with this happening, I still believe that God is still gracious and in control despite of their sufferings. The Lord is still a sovereign God! Whether you believe me or not, anything that is short of hell is grace. =)
