An update was announced by
TMZ (a famous celebrity news website in America) that an autopsy will determine the cause of her death.
Many celebrities have shown their sorrows after the tragic news about Whitney's death. It is once again another loss in America's music industry.
What then can we learn from this tragic story of Whitney Houston?
Whitney Houston's death is actually a reality in everyone's life. First, let us be reminded that life is a precious gift from God. It was given to us by our Creator and He has the right to take it away anytime He wanted. This shows that we are in God's mercy every day, hour, and second. Thus, it is only by His grace why we are still alive!
Let's not waste it!
We all know that Whitney Houston is an icon in the music industry as she has sealed her name as one of the most gifted singers in the world. God blessed her with an incredible voice, fame, and showered her abundantly with blessings. James 1:17 says,
"Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change."
But would you believe me if I told you that all these accomplishments are all nothing? You probably won't, but Jesus said in Matthew 16:26,
"For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?"
I'm not saying that Whitney Houston sold her soul to the devil or anything, but the main point of Jesus which I would like to emphasize is that Whitney Houston and all the people in the world who would do anything just to be either beautiful, famous, powerful and rich would gain nothing in the end, even if they acquire it, if he/she will lose his/her soul in the end. Losing your soul would mean you are living a wasted life. If you're living in this world with that purpose, then you are only wasting your life.
How not to waste your life?
It would be wise for someone to ask this question since according to Solomon,
"everything is vanity". Everything in life would be vanity because all of us will die according to him. Man's life is short. And all those achievements and riches we acquire will not remain ours forever but someone will benefit from it. Someone will reap what we have sown. And that's why he said in Ecclesiastes that it's all vanity.
Now, how not to waste your life? Jesus said these things,
"I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but through Me." (John 14:6)
"I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever abides in Me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing." (John 15:5)
"I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in Me, though he die, yet he shall live, and everyone who lives and believes in Me shall never die." (John 11:25-26)
"I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." (John 8:12)
"And this is eternal life, that they know You the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent." (John 17:3)
"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly." (John 10:10)
Now these are all what Jesus Christ claimed. Either we believe that in Him is life and that knowing Christ would be knowing God also. For in Christ,
the fullness of God dwells (Colossians 1:19). Or we may choose not to believe and continue to waste our life.
Accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal Savior and to know more about God's will for us would be living an abundant life. Living our lives for God's glory would be the best thing we can do for ourselves! Let's not be deceived by what the world offers. God knows what's best for us thus, He gave his only Son to die on the cross as a propitiation for our sins.
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by His grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put as a propitiation by His blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God's righteousness, because in His divine forbearance He had passed over former sins" (Romans 2:23-25)
May you'll not make the same mistakes that Whitney Houston just did. Don't waste our life!
