Philippines' National Football Team Azkals Outplayed Sri Lanka Brave Reds for a Stunning 4-0 Score Win!

Large crowd of Filipino football enthusiasts and fans, together with the entire Filipino nation, joined in great celebration after the Philippines' National Football Team, Azkals, beat Sri Lanka Brave Reds in a commanding win of 4-0 score earlier this Sunday afternoon in Rizal Memorial Football Stadium, Manila. The Azkals were in high spirits after making history by becoming the first ever Philippine Football Team to advance in the second round of the 2014 FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football AssociationWorld Cup Qualifiers.



Game Highlights
The game started at 3:30 pm in the afternoon (Philippines Time) with heavy rains pouring out in the field, making it difficult for the players to score. For the entire 18 minutes, the game was scoreless as both teams struggled in the field to score. But at the 19th minute mark of the game, the crowd have awakened in excitement as Chieffy Caligdong made the Philippines' first goal in an awesome move that the Sri Lankan goalkeeper wasn't expecting. The crowd cheered even loudly as Phil Younghusband made another goal on the 42nd minute mark of the game making the score board 2-0. One official of the game initially ruled out Younghusband's goal because of an alleged foul. But it was later overruled by another referee explaining that Younghusband's contact with the Sri Lankan defender was only minimal. First half ended 20 minutes after Younghusband's goal.

The Philippines played solidly and aggressively throughout the entire game. On the second half, Angel Guirado Aldueger bags the 3rd goal for the Askals, making the team's lead to a relaxing 3 points. And finally, on the 56th minute mark of the game, Phil nailed a penalty kick, making the match into a decisive win for the Philippines.

Full Time. AZKALS win 4-0 (aggregate score 5-1)

The win qualifies the team for the next round. The Askals will battle it out with Kuwait on the second round of the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers on July 23, 2011.
